Recced Because: penny_hill makes it very clear that this is not a 'pairing' story. And it's not. What it is, is a thrilling action-adventure, filled with nefarious villains and truly evil schemes. Don't be scared off by an original main character - she is expertly handled, and by the fifth chapter we find all our favorite characters, being kept true to themselves. They are thrust into this version of the OZ that is so much darker, so much more real, that I have to think this is the world they were trying for when they made the mini. Technically completed, but directly continued in its sequel, which is still in-progress.
